Financial
Digital Hospital covers the entire financial needs in any hospital, as it provides the traditional financial modules such as: General Ledger, Payroll and Cost accounting. The additional and the unique modules in Digital Hospital Solution will track the patient -from the financial aspect- from the minute he enters the hospital until he leaves.
When any medical transaction -that is related to the financial department- is performed for a certain patient, the financial modules in Digital Hospital Solution will automatically add the required amounts to the Patient’s account and generates the patient bill. For example; when a test lab is performed, the test’s costs are added automatically to the patient account. The same for the stock control, when an item is used during a surgery; it will be added automatically to the patient bill as a cost of performing the operation. In the same time, when an item is selected to be used in the operation it will be automatically deducted from the available stock; so stock supervisors will need to press on few buttons only to get the actual status of any item at any time.
The financial modules in Digital Hospital provides advanced financial reports useful to be used to support decisions and strategic actions, with a button click a complete statistical report will be generated about the costs of implementing the cardiac center in the hospital for example, analysis of the resulted statistics could be achieved easily depending on the clear representation of data and elements.
To handle the financial issues related to items in the pharmacy or the operation rooms, the barcode recognition was enabled in Digital Hospital. Each item should have an ID; when any item is selected to be used or sold it should first scanned with the barcode scanner. The entire process will take less than a minute and it will safe a lot of time spent in entering items information and details manually. This process is related to the financial department because it reflects on both the stock control and the patient bill.

The First Digital Hospital
Administration
From our experience in working with hospitals and doctors in the region, we’ve noticed that the three levels of management were not covered completely in any Hospitals Management Information System; Digital Hospital provides complete coverage for the three level of management: Upper Management, Middle Management and Supervisory Management through the Administration modules integrated in the solution.
Like in the financial modules, generated reports and statistics are available for managers and supervisors to support the decision making regarding the administrative issues. Managers can determine the level of occupancy for a specific period, room type or for a certain department. Also, Digital Hospital is designed to provide complete interaction with employees and hospital members, the solution was designed to support managers and supervisors to get the best performance from the employees and the medical staff. Using this solution, supervisors will be able to schedule shifts, generate doctors and operations schedules, report and distribute employees’ tasks, provide alerts for uncompleted tasks and distribute documents, regulations and requests.
Digital Hospital provides managers and supervisors with the ability to monitor the daily work remotely from anywhere using the Pocket/Tablet/Laptop devices through the internet. This operation is highly secured and provides reports and notifications about the main administrative issues in the hospital.

Challenges in transforming hospitals from paper to paperless
To transfer the entire traditional medical record to Electronic Medical Record we have faced a number of challenges, below are some of what we’ve faced and how we’ve passed them:
Challenge 1
Doctors do not have the time to enter diagnosis information, orders and notes to the Personal Computer...
Solution
- Doctors and medical specialists were always isolated from the IT solution in any hospital, the reason for that is that
doctors are always busy and they need to check the maximum number of patients while they are in the hospital. So
they are always busy and they find it impossible to be restricted to return to the PC every time they examine a patient
to enter the diagnoses information or any other medical data. Also, it was impossible to ask doctors to return to the
same traditional PC to add a note or remark during his discussion with the patient.
- Digital Hospital provides the ultimate solution for doctors, utilizing the wireless technology and the tablet/pocket
devices in Digital Hospital is the safest bridge for doctors to across to the Gap technology and be part of the digital
solutions.
With Digital Hospital:
- Busy doctors can use portable Tablet devices to move freely in the hospital or clinic
- Doctors will be able to enter data in the point of care (POC) using the tablet’s pen as if the doctor is writing on a regular paper
- Doctors also will be able to monitor the entire medical report for a certain patient through the tablet screen and without the need to have a full paper folder transferred from a place to another
- Doctors will be able to add notes and remarks instantly to the Patient Electronic Medical Record during his discussion with the patient using the tablet
- X-rays and labs tests will be viewed through the tablet easily and could be showed to the patient as well which will extend the patient trust in the doctors’ knowledge.
Challenge 2
Some nurses may not have the required experience to deal with Personal Computers!
Solution
With Digital hospital, nurses do not have to be highly skilled in using computer systems, the user interface is very
simple and all the options and commands are available clearly on the screen.
Challenge 3
It is very hard for nurses to enter the required data like the medicines data accurately each time any medicine is
giving to any patient!
Solution It is true that nurses will find it very difficult to enter the data into the system of the medicine before delivering it to
the patient, the same for disposables and items used during operations.
Digital Hospital use an easy way to enter the used item data to the system through utilizing the barcode, nurses
will only need to scan the item before delivering it and all the required data will be added automatically to the
selected forms.
Challenge 4
It is difficult to scan X-rays and lab results to the system and add them to the electronic medical record!
Solution Correct, that’s why Digital Hospital is designed to be connected to the medical equipments to receive the
data –X-rays and lab results- electronically and add them to the patient’s medical record without the need to have
the results printed then scanned again to the system.
Challenge 5
Hospitals have a concern that the medical equipments they have are old and could not be connected to Digital
Hospital!
Solution Because of our experience in dealing with large hospitals and different medical equipments, we mostly find a way to
force the medical equipments to send the resulted data automatically to Digital Hospital.
Challenge 6
IT managers and technical engineers in the hospital have a concern that videos of operations and sound notes could
not be saved easily on the computer because they will need huge space and it will need more power to handle all the
saved files.
Solution Well, all files could be saved easily in Digital Hospital because video and sound files are compressed to reduce the
file size ..
so all files will not take much space. Also, with MS SQL server and Windows Operating System, it is very easy to
handle huge amount of data smoothly, some of our customers are 500 beds and we handle all their data without
complains.

The First Digital Hospital
Indiana Heart Hospital... the first implementation for the Digital Hospital Concept
In addition to our new customers who began gaining benefits from implementing the new digital hospital concept with
Digimedica, the Indiana Heart Hospital (TIHH) – the world’s first all-digital specialty cardiac facility – is the prototype for
the Digital Hospital concept in USA. After implementing the Digital Hospital Concept in Indiana Heart Hospital:
- Doctors and nurses are able to work more safely with better access to the patient’s chart
- More time is being spent with the patient at the bedside
- productivity has exceeded goals
The Indiana Heart Hospital was able to measure a number of benefits from its investment in a fully digital hospital
(compared with previous cardiac facilities in the health system) including:
- Increased market share acquisition by 15 percent in the first fiscal year
- Reduction in medication errors by 85 percent
- Reduction in inappropriate denials and delays with respective payers by 65 percent
- Reduction of “chart management” costs from $15 to $3 per chart
- Reduction in medical transcription and dictation costs by 45 percent
- Reduction in coding and abstraction workload by 15 percent
- Reduction in physician chart completion activities by 30 percent
